Mark is an Associate Professor of History at the UCL Institute of Education. His areas of expertise are around the history of adult education, youth movements, and informal education in modern Britain. 

He is a member of the executive committee of the UCL Institute of Education's International Centre for Historical Research in Education (ICHRE), and a co-editor (with Tom Woodin and Susannah Wright) of the journal History of Education, published by Taylor & Francis. 

Mark acts as the Chair of the Advisory Board on POI.
