Arooj Aurangzeb

Arooj Aurangzeb acts as Research Assistant on the Project. Aside from being a researcher she is a political organizer and theatre artist. In the past, Arooj has worked with the Mushtaq Ahmad School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Gurmani Centre of Languages and Literature, and Saida Waheed Gender Initiative at Lahore University of Management Sciences as a Research Assistant. She was part of the editorial team at SUJAG media, and created content and news stories on education, gender and sexual harassment. Arooj’s research interests include philosophy of education, performance arts and politics, and culture of protest.

The Partition of Identity (POI) project examines the Bengali community in Pakistan. Estimates suggest that there are between 2.8 – 3 million members of this group living in Pakistan, but in reality, the numbers are likely to be much higher.
