Irfan Hasan

Artist, Irfan Hasan graduated from the National College of Arts in 2006 with a major Indo-Persian miniature painting. Hasan holds numerous awards including the Hallett Independent Emerging Artist Award and Asian Art in London Award 2018. He has held residencies in New York, Massachusetts, Kolkata, and Tehran and has hosted several solo projects and group shows nationally and internationally.

In 2012, he founded Studio Irfan Hasan, where he conducts into-Persian Miniature Painting workshops. His practice is predominantly subjugated with the idea of the human figure/portrait within the contexts of the Oriental and western visual aesthetics and art history. Irfan has also collaborated with artists from different communities across Pakistan and was born and grew up in Karachi. Irfan will oversee phase 3 of the project.

The POI Study

The Partition of Identity (POI) project examines the Bengali community in Pakistan. Estimates suggest that there are between 2.8 – 3 million members of this group living in Pakistan, but in reality, the numbers are likely to be much higher.
