Victoria is an Associate Professor of Political Sociology at the Social Research Institute at University College London. Her research interests are in the sociology of migration with a particular focus on citizenship and political exclusion. Much of her research has focused on migrant and diasporic Bengali populations, including the North Indian 'Bihari' Muslims who fled East Bengal as a result of the Liberation War in 1971, and went on to establish themselves in various cities across the UK and North America

The POI Study

The Partition of Identity (POI) project examines the Bengali community in Pakistan. Estimates suggest that there are between 2.8 – 3 million members of this group living in Pakistan, but in reality, the numbers are likely to be much higher.
